  • Incumbent: Rep. Ed Jutila (D)

  • Opponent: Paul Formica (R)

  • Towns: East Lyme, Salem

  • 2004 Margin of Victory: 8.69%

  • Notes: East Lyme is GOP, and Jutila is invisible.

     

    Rep. Jutila has one of the more conservative voting records of the Democrats in the region. He has gone on record as a supporter of Senator Joseph Lieberman in this summer's senate primary. He has head start on his fundraising, having raised approximately $7070 in his first quarter (before his opponent declared).

     

    Paul Formica is a prominent local business owner and a longtime member of the local board of finance. He was the town's top vote getter in the 2005 municipal elections. He has tremendous name ID from his ownership of a local fish market and restaurant.

     

    This should be a close race that will be hard fought on both sides.
